Some people have been asking in the comments of different posts of this video “how can Patel lie like that and not face consequences”

The answer is going to piss you off.

He is not lieing. He is using his position to make what he wants “the truth”.

Here is another HUMINT lesson: “Listen to what they say because words matter.”

I want you to listen to Patel’s words: “no credible information”.

That is how he gets out of it being a lie. The word credible.

As FBI Director he has certain authority. The biggest in this case is the authority to deem something credible or not.

Establishing credibility of intel or of a source is normally done at a different level of collection than the literal head of the agency. But as head of the agency he is the “final authority”

Meaning no matter what information is contained in the files, no matter what analysis or collaboration is conducted, no matter how many seasoned agents think the information should be acted on…

He can literally reject it and state he does not trust its credibility and force a “stand down” on action.

So the way he prevents a lie, he makes the lie “the truth”. He deems it all to have zero credibility. It is a common authoritarian practice.

The person in charge rejects all actual evidence and declares the evidence to be what he wants it to be.

To cover the lie he just makes sure he speaks with enough caveats to make his “truth” and plays on the emotional language.

“I would bring this case yesterday” is ment to convey the feeling he wants it as much as you do. So that you believe the “new truth” because “it said he would do it if it was there, he’s not so it must not be there”.
